Social economy the intersection of competitive entrepreneurship and social outcomes, conference says

The European Conference on Social Economy and Entrepreneurship, held in Prague on 16-18 April 209 under the aegis of the Czech presidency of the EU, accentuated the value of social entrepreneurship. it declared:

Social economy should not be viewed only in its social dimension but as an intersection of competitive entrepreneurial behaviour in the environment of the open market and the search for social outcomes and improved quality of life.

The conclusions point to the 80% positive vote the European Parliament gave in February 2009 to the Report on Social Economy presented by Patrizia Toia. [Note: As of 2011 these conclusions have been taken offline.]
