European Prize for Youth Employment in the Social Economy

On 15 November 2010, the European network of foundations for social economy ( officially started inviting applications for the European Prize "For youth employment in the Social Economy".

The prizes will be awarded to candidates in the two following categories:

  • Category 1: a social economy enterprise founded during the last five years which will receive a prize totalling €10,000
  • Category 2: a planned social economy enterprise which will receive a prize totalling €8,000 in addition to financial support with the creation of the enterprise (up to a maximum of €5,000)

The assessment criteria applied when selecting the best applications will be as follows:

  • The scope for multiplication of the entrepreneurial initiative in other countries of the European Union
  • The number, quality and longevity of the jobs created for young people
  • The degree of social and/or technological innovation
  • The level of compliance with the principles of the social economy
  • The incorporation of environmental best practices within the enterprise or the planned enterprise
  • The operational and financial capacity of the enterprise or of the planned enterprise

Registrations for the Prize will be accepted up until January 31, 2011 at midnight.
